How Cerrito Works
Cerrito is a record-first system for cow-calf operations.
It works by creating a single, persistent record for each animal. You add real-world events to that record over time — births, movements, treatments, weights, and costs — only when they matter.
Instead of forcing workflows or upfront setup, Cerrito mirrors how cow-calf operations already work.
How Cerrito fits into day-to-day work
Cerrito is event-driven, not task-driven.
You don’t “run” Cerrito every day.
It works in the background, and you interact with it only when something actually happens in your operation.
In practice:
A calf is born → you log a birth
Cattle are worked → you log treatments or weights
Animals move pastures → you record the move
Nothing happens → you do nothing
Cerrito stays out of the way — until you need it.

Field work and office work stay connected
What you get from Cerrito
As you log real work — births, treatments, movements, weights — Cerrito builds a complete operational picture automatically.
Over time, that gives you:
A complete history for every animal
Everything that’s happened to an animal, in one place — from birth to sale.A live view of your herd at any moment
Filter by lot, pasture, age, pregnancy status, or weight — without spreadsheets.Events you can trust
Records are tied to when things actually happened, not reconstructed later from memory.Consistency across time and people
Whether it’s you, a foreman, or an account manager entering data, the structure stays the same.- Information that’s ready when you need it
Lists, summaries, and reports are always based on real records — no manual rebuilding.
(If you stop here, Cerrito works as a clean, reliable record system.)

From records to real economics — when you’re ready
You can stop at records… or go further when it makes sense.
Because costs are tied to real events — treatments, feed, labor, pasture use — Cerrito can show you things most systems can’t, like:
-
Your real cost per calf
-
Cost differences by lots, cattle type, dates, etc.
-
Where money is being spent without adding value
If you never enter costs, Cerrito still works perfectly as a record system. If you do, it becomes a decision tool.
These insights come from built-in reports that update automatically as you record work.

Who Cerrito is designed for
Cerrito is designed first for cow-calf operations — that is where its record-first approach was built and refined.
That same structure also works naturally for:
Stocker and backgrounding operations
Where tracking weights, movements, and costs over time matters.
Feedlots
That want clean animal histories, event tracking, and real cost visibility — without ERP overhead.
Operations with multiple ranches or business units
Where the same system is used across locations, with shared reporting and controlled access.
roducers managing cattle for others
Account Managers can keep separate records while maintaining visibility and control.
The system adapts to the scale of the operation — not the other way around.
Head records
Head records
Keep individual head records, such as tag numbers, weights, treatments, and events, cropping history, production unit, marking, certificates, and other relevant information & documents at the head level.
- Tag number
- Internal tag
- Calf – cow relation
- Weight history
- Pregnancy history
- Treatments and events history
- Production / commercial unit
- Marking
- Pictures
- Certificates / breeder association documents
- and more
Lots
By grouping your cattle you will be able to get the most insightful numbers of your operation. The system is design to give you the vital signs of your operation such as crop ratios, gain rates, cost breakdowns, feeding volumes, financial results, and much more, based on your lots.
Group your cattle in as many lots as you want. Group them as you see fit, by: purpose, breed, status, etc. Any group that you see fit, or just create your own (unlimited).
Corrals | Pastures
Organize your cattle by corrals or pastures and keep track of their location. You can easily record events, feeds, or weights based on where your cattle are. You can also move them as you need, knowing that the system will keep all relevant records for each individual head, no matter where they are assigned to. Corral management helps you manage your cattle more efficiently and accurately.
Cost Control
Track and organize costs correctly. Let the system make the complex calculations and allocations such as depreciation, cattle replacement, and indirect costs. The system will reveal the cost breakdown and break-even for you so you can focus on decision-making. Know exactly how much your cattle is costing you.
Bulk Edits
Be able to update multiple field records (Corral or lot assignment, business unit, weights, etc.) to multiple heads at the same time in a single “transaction”.
Standard Reports
Get simple and insightful reports that help you make decisions and track your operation:
- Cost and economics
- Lots and performance
- Individual head records
- Global summaries
- and more coming soon
Bulk Events
We usually work with many cattle at the same time, so we created Bulk Events to help us record events for multiple heads easily. You can make events (medical treatments, tagging, marking, castrating, weaning, etc.), and apply them to several heads at the same time, and each head will have its own record. If the event has a cost, you can assign it, and the software will keep track of dates, costs, and notes for you.
Diets
- Optimize feed management for your livestock.
- Create your own diets and built your library.
- Reflect the feed services you provide at the pen and allow the system to track cost and consumptions for you.
Crops Inventory
- Accurately track your crops inventory, quantities and average costs.
- Let the system automatically deduct consumption based on the feeding and diets you serve at the pen.
Advanced Reports
Our Advanced Reports feature provides a collection of dynamic, pre-built queries that deliver analyzed data in a ready-to-use format. Skip the hassle of creating endless Excel tables and manual analysis. Find all the critical insights you need in one place. With an ever-growing library of customizable reports, you can effortlessly access detailed tables to make informed decisions and optimize your operations.
Account Manager
Delegate the system management to others.
Sometimes your operation may benefit from having an external consultant help you with optimal record management. We have created a feature that lets you assign account managers to do the system work for you, so you can concentrate on the field operations while having dependable and solid records to track your business and make better decisions.
Multi-user
Large operations may require multiple users with different access levels. We have built a multi user system with different profiles and attributes that allows you to have your team efficiently run the software.
